Lafou El Sender 2020 owes its name to the path that accompanies the vineyards of Mas Gabrielet, the estate in Batea (Tarragona) from which the garnacha, syrah, and morenillo grapes originate, used to produce this exceptional red wine. Six months of aging in Central European oak barrels added the final touches that make it a great representative of the D.O. Terra Alta and the ideal companion for red meats, mushrooms, or oily fish, due to its excellent balance and fruity profile.
Heir to an important winemaking saga with a long tradition in Catalonia, Ramón Roqueta Segalés is the figurehead of the family group Roqueta Origen and Lafou Celler, as well as one of the four wineries that comprise it, his most personal project. The mastery in the production of garnacha, complemented with other varieties, including the also native morenillo, practically nonexistent in the rest of Spain, has made the Catalan winery worthy of numerous awards and recognitions. An example is the Bronze Medal obtained by the 2015 vintage of Lafou El Sender at the International Wine Challenge 2017.
Lafou Celler (2007) is the personal project of Ramón Roqueta Segalés, heir to a lineage connected to the wine world for over ten generations and founder in 1898 of Bodegas Ramón Roqueta, one of the most authentic and long-standing wineries in Catalonia.
Lafou Celler is located in the main square of the municipality of Batea (Tarragona), in a restored old manor house, and is equipped with the most advanced technology. Its wines, protected under the D.O. Terra Alta, are a true reflection of this region.
