Professional career
Juan Carlos López de Lacalle is one of Spain's most creative and brilliant visionaries, the author of some of the country’s most sought-after wines. He was the helmsman who led Bodegas y Viñedos Artadi to the forefront of Rioja in the 1990s, creating a new concept of wines deeply rooted in their terroir. After achieving the highest score from guru Robert Parker (100 points out of 100) for his wine Viña el Pisón 2004, the fame of this winemaker and bodeguero surpassed national borders. In addition to Artadi, López de Lacalle has initiated other ventures: Artazu (1996) in the D.O. Navarra; and Bodegas y Viñedos El Sequé (1999) in the D.O. Alicante.
