Alejandro López

Professional career

Alejandro López began his career working for the Government of La Rioja, advising producers and winemakers on organic production. Later, he decided to continue his training abroad as an assistant winemaker in wineries in Chile, Italy, and the United States. Back in Spain, he started his professional work in various wineries of the D.O.Ca. Rioja until, in 2010, he joined Bodegas Bilbaínas as a winemaker, where in 2016 he was appointed Technical Director.

In 2018, he was chosen by Pedro Ballesteros MW in the prestigious Decanter magazine as part of the Top 10 Spanish breakthrough winemakers, described as "a key and reference figure in the new generation of trendsetting winemakers in our country."

In March 2019, Alejandro López joined La Rioja Alta S.A., becoming part of the winemaking department led by Julio Sáenz. In November 2020, he took charge of the winemaking department at Torre de Oña (Rioja Alavesa) and Áster (Ribera del Duero). In October 2024, a new career move made him the Technical Manager of Bodegas Beronia, replacing Matías Calleja in the role.
