Barbera d'Asti

The D.O.C.G. Barbera d’Asti encompasses some of the most appreciated and renowned wines from the Italian region of Piedmont, distinguished by their lightness, smoothness, and accessibility. Recognized with the highest quality classification in 2008, this controlled and guaranteed designation of origin refers exclusively to red wines made with barbera grapes in the city of Asti and its surroundings.
The vineyards of D.O.C.G. Barbera d’Asti cover an area of 3,915 hectares and are located at an average altitude ranging between 90 and 350 meters, on hilly terrain. According to the regulations of the denomination, wines from this production area must contain at least 85% barbera grapes, with the remaining composition allowed to include other authorized varieties such as freisa, grignolino, and dolcetto. The result of these productions is a balanced and appealing red wine with particularly good aging potential.
Climate
Continental characterized by long, cold winters and very hot, dry summers. Rainfall is usually concentrated between the months of November and May.
