The Tokaj region is the oldest and most renowned in Hungary, stretching across the gentle southern slopes of the Zemplén Hills. It is one of the oldest demarcated production areas in the world, where, since 1737 by royal decree, the first 28 settlements suitable for cultivating grapes for the production of the famous Tokaj were listed.
