The bunches are small, loosely packed, and consist of grapes of varying sizes. The berries are elliptical in shape, with black skin and a bluish-black color. The skins are concentrated, which allows these wines to undergo long macerations and achieve a high concentration of phenolic compounds, high alcohol content, and balanced acidity. Barrel aging suits them very well, resulting in wines with an intense color, almost vermilion, with spicy and mineral aromas (characteristic of the variety) and an exuberant palate with dense tannins.
