General Information

Viña Caeira 2022 is a single varietal Albariño made in Salvaterra de Miño, in Condado do Tea. The grapes were harvested by hand in 12-kg crates. The grapes underwent slow fermentation to preserve their aromas as much as possible, followed by ageing on the lees for approximately 4 months, resulting in a wine with a better balance between acidity, freshness and volume.

Carlos Moro started up Viña Caeira in 2022. The winery is located in Condado de Tea, one of the five subzones that make up the D.O. Rías Baixas, in the south of the province of Pontevedra, and is surrounded by the 2.2 hectares of Albariño vineyards of the Finca Pesqueiras estate, planted in 2005. The vines grow on trellises tied to granite posts in a picturesque landscape. The vines are already 20 years old and receive strong oceanic influence.

In this system for training Albariño vines, characteristic of this area, the green parts are positioned at a height of between 1.70 and 2.10 metres above the ground, forming a horizontal mantle. That way they capture as much sunlight as possible. This also keeps the vines far away from the humidity of the soil, avoiding fungal diseases. In addition, the bunches of grapes hang loosely under the foliage, favouring aeration. The estate is located at an altitude of between 150 and 300 metres and has granitic, sandy loam soils, rich in clay and mica.

Viña Caeira 2022 (D.O. Rías Baixas) es ideal with baked seabass.
