Sanamaro Sobre Lías 2021 is an exclusive Galician white wine produced only in the best vintages, when the vineyards of La Fraga and Los Bancales, in the Pazo de San Mauro, reach the highest levels of ripeness and fullness. In this 2021 harvest, the albariño and loureiro varieties that compose it are characterized by their fresher and more Atlantic expression. On the other hand, its aging on lees provides great complexity in aromas, elegance, balance, and silkiness.

The elegance of Albariño and the intensity of Loureiro combine in this great white: Sanamaro Sobre Lías 2021. It comes from a fruity and fresh, Atlantic vintage. The fruits come from a vineyard selection of the best clusters from the "La Fraga" and "Los Bancales" plots, located in the Pazo de San Mauro, close to the facilities. These plots cover a total of 2.4 hectares, with old vines that are 36 years old and grow in shallow soils with an abundance of gravel and pebbles, especially in the La Fraga estate, along with clays, and on a base of granitic rock.
The harvest was carried out by hand from September 6 to 21. After field selection of the best clusters, 2/3 of the grapes were processed through low-temperature maceration, and 1/3 with whole clusters. 90% is vinified in French oak vats of the first and second year; and the remaining 10% in cocciopesto amphorae. Subsequently, this white wine remained 6 months aging on the lees, with manual ‘bâtonnage’, and another year of aging in the bottle.
Pazo de San Mauro has established itself as one of the most emblematic wineries in Galicia. Its facilities are located in a typical Galician palace and it boasts a spectacular vineyard: 30 ha of vines in the Condado de Tea subzone, the southernmost part of the D.O. Rías Baixas, which descend in a beautiful amphitheater to the banks of the Miño River. The winery is part of the Grupo Vinícola Marqués de Vargas, owner of the Marqués de Vargas in Rioja and the Conde de San Cristóbal winery in the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Sanamaro Sobre Lías 2021 (D.O. Rías Baixas) would perfectly accompany fish, seafood, smoked salmon, or pasta salad.
Since the late 16th century, the architectural complex presiding over Pazo San Mauro, in Salvaterra do Miño, has featured a space dedicated to the vine. However, it was not until 1988 that the possibility of producing quality wines from the native albariño variety was conceived. Since 2003, the estate has belonged to the Grupo Vinícola Marqués de Vargas, a Rioja-based firm that has undertaken significant investments in the restoration of the buildings and the construction of a brand-new winery.
