Piedra Reserva 2020 is proof of how painstaking selection and careful ageing can turn Tinta de Toro and Garnacha grapes into a memorable red wine. It was grown on old vines planted in 1968 on an estate called Paraje Estancia Piedra, and its production process combines tradition and precision, resulting in a full-bodied, expressive wine full of subtle nuances. Its firm structure, elegance and ability to develop in the glass make it a must-have for anyone seeking authenticity and greatness in Toro.
Estancia Piedra is one of the most iconic wineries in the D.O., renowned for its defence of old vines and its honest interpretation of the terroir. Its estate, located in an exceptional setting, is home to one of the largest areas of gobelet-trained Tinta de Toro vines in the region. This enables the firm to produce wines with a unique identity and unmistakable personality. Its track record has helped to cement Toro's prestige as one of the soundest winemaking regions in the Duero.
All this makes Piedra Reserva 2020 a must-have wine for anyone looking for character, balance and appeal. Critical acclaim – it was awarded 92 points from Decanter, 93 points from Tim Atkin and 91 from James Suckling – attests to its quality and potential. At mealtimes, it pairs exceptionally well with roast lamb, red meats, traditional stews and mature cheeses. A Reserva that sums up the potency of Toro and the sensitivity of a winery that knows how to turn each vintage into an unforgettable experience.
Nose
In the glass, this Reserva displays a deep cherry-red colour with a violet edge. In the nose, aromas of forest fruits and underbrush from the Garnacha blend with black fruit, mineral and balsamic notes from the Tinta de Toro. The ageing process adds perfectly integrated hints of vanilla, roasted coffee and chocolate.
Mouth
On the palate, it's firm, structured and long, with an elegant finish that makes you want to carry on discovering it.
