Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2025 is one of the leading young whites from Rueda, supported by gold medals in international competitions and recognised as Best Young White by the Guía Vivir el Vino. A tribute from the winery to its most iconic vineyard, La Caprichosa.

Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2025 originates from bush-vine vineyards with over three decades of history, planted in stony soils with low fertility. In its meticulous production, 6 months ageing on lees plays a key role, contributing greater character, added body, and a velvety roundness to the wine.

The grapes that make up Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo 2025 come from the municipalities of Rueda, Pollos, and La Seca (Valladolid), at an average altitude of 750 metres. They are low-yielding vineyards (4,000 kg/ha), cultivated under a Mediterranean climate with continental influence. The harvest is carried out manually, and the bunches are carefully selected at the winery before a controlled fermentation lasting 15 days in stainless steel tanks at 14 °C.

With over 40 years of experience, Palacio de Bornos boasts some of the best vineyards in the D.O. Rueda and produces wines that are present on five continents today.

The winery

The D.O. Rueda (Valladolid) is a leading region for Spanish white wines. Its whites are very well received in European and U.S. markets, especially due to their excellent value for money. Here, Verdejo is the star grape, a native variety whose revaluation owes much to the expertise of Antonio Sanz, owner and winemaker of Bodegas Palacio de Bornos. In 1976, Antonio Sanz parted ways with a legacy tied to five generations of winemakers and founded the current Palacio de Bornos winery. Even then, he foresaw the enormous potential of the Rueda region and the characteristics that would later bring universal fame to the Verdejo variety. Today, the winery produces white wines made from this native grape and the French Sauvignon Blanc.
