General Information

Mesopotamia Equinoccio 2022 is a blend of Tinta de Toro (90%) and Garnacha (10%) designed exclusively for our customers by Bodega Abadía de Aribayos and Vinoselección’s technical team. It comes from a selection of the best grapes of the 2022 harvest – rated Excellent in the D.O. Toro – grown on old vines (with an average age of 30 to 40 years). It’s been matured for seven months in large oak barrels.

The result is a red that expresses the personality of the region’s star grape, Tinta de Toro, with the extra freshness and fruitiness that come from Garnacha. Barrel ageing has made it nicely rounded, mature and elegant.

Abadía de Aribayos is one of the most interesting initiatives on the current Spanish wine scene. Started up in 2013 by Bernardo Fariña and Adela Martínez, it produces artisanal beers and special wines that are unique in that where they come from is constantly changing: yesterday they were made in Arribes de Duero, today in Toro and tomorrow wherever their creators feel they have found the most interesting vines with the most personality in a unique winemaking area, the province of Zamora. They only work with old vines and use large 300-litre barrels for ageing.

Only 10,000 bottles of Mesopotamia Equinoccio 2022 (D.O. Toro) have been made. It goes especially well with hearty dishes like beef cooked in red wine.
