General Information

The winemaker Markus Molitor meticulously selects the pinot noir fruits from the old vineyards he owns in the localities of Himmereich, Mandelgraben, and Trarbarcher Schossberg to craft the magnificent red wine Markus Molitor Einstern 2019.

Its careful production begins with a manual harvest of perfectly ripened grapes, which are then transported to the winery where they are destemmed. Next, spontaneous fermentation begins with their skins. After a three-and-a-half-week fermentation, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 18 months on its fine lees. Thanks to long maturation in small wooden vats, perfect clarification is achieved, making filtration unnecessary.

The winery Markus Molitor is a family-owned firm with eight generations of heritage. Its estate boasts a magnificent vineyard that stands out from the rest in the Mosel area due to its impressive slope, with up to an 80% incline. In this setting, with slate soils and very particular microclimates, the pinot blanc and riesling vines find their ideal environment, expressing themselves with great purity. Thus, the wines from the world-class Markus Molitor winery are highly recognizable for their delicate minerality and fruity profile.
