La Maldición Clarete 2022 is born from Marc Isart's commitment to reviving the classic wines of the southern Madrid area. In his Cinco Leguas winery, he puts a new twist on the traditional claretes of Arganda with this rosé, a blend of malvar and tempranillo, which stands out for its balanced acidity and lightness.

La Maldición Clarete 2022 is nurtured from malvar and tempranillo vines from a vineyard cultivated on calcareous soils with limestone pebbles. For its production, the fruits were selected and hand-harvested by Marc Isart's team and, once in the winery, fermentation and maceration with the skins began for 20 days, with very little movement. Finally, the resulting wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for 4 months with its own yeasts.
Bodega Cinco Leguas is the evolution of La Maldición and the new adventure of Marc Isart in the D.O Vinos de Madrid. The popular Catalan winemaker, recognized for projects like Comando G or Bernabeleva, surprises with this innovative project that bets on thirst-quenching wines, designed for enjoyment, from old forgotten vines of malvar and tempranillo, coming from vineyards less than 5 leagues from the Villa.
Clear cherry color with medium layer, clean and bright.
Clean nose of medium intensity with notes of ripe fruit, dry herbs, apple, and hay.
On the palate, it is light, with soft tannin that provides structure, good acidity, and balance. It invites you to keep drinking.
Bodegas Cinco Leguas is the personal project of Marc Isart, a young Catalan winemaker based in Madrid, associated with unique and legendary projects such as Comando G or Bernabeleda.
Cinco Leguas is the evolution of La Maldición, with the aim of producing honest wines, “wines to give pleasure and quench thirst,” from forgotten vineyards in the midst of an austere landscape with its own identity.
The project is located in the Madrid town of Chinchón. It all begins in what was once a suit factory, which later became a sparkling wine cellar and subsequently an anise factory. The name of the winery (5 leguas) refers to the maximum distance where the vineyards of the wines of the Villa de Madrid could be located. This rule has been governed by royal decree for centuries for the town of Madrid.
Isart's personal endeavor stems from old forgotten vineyards of tinto fino, malvar, and torrontés from Madrid (Alarije) located in the municipalities of Belmonte de Tajo, Colmenar de Oreja, and Chinchón. These are dry-farmed, old vines that survive in a continental climate with an annual rainfall of 460 mm, characterized by dry, hot summers and cold, extreme winters.
A philosophy that seeks to preserve traditions, an identity, organic viticulture, and a minimally interventionist winemaking approach are the keys to this Madrid winery that produces honest wines that unmistakably reflect their terroir of origin.
