Terraselecta is one of the wine groups that has grown the most in recent years. Its commitment to producing great wines in the best areas of Spain is paying off.  In Castilla-La Mancha they’ve set high standards with their Mano a Mano winery, which only works with old bush-trained vines. These very valuable assets translate into fabulous reds such as Hacienda Montecorto Tempranillo Viñas Viejas 2018, which was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Mundus Vini 2024 competition. It’s been perfectly aged for 6 months in French oak and displays both freshness and maturity.

General Information

Hacienda Montecorto Tempranillo Viñas Viejas 2018 is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown on gobelet-trained, fifty-year-old vines at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level. These valuable vines are harvested by hand. The vines grow in soils with varied compositions: calcareous sand with pebbles, sandy loam and clay, all on a calcareous bedrock.

The temperature was monitored throughout the entire process, and each of the wines/vats was controlled completely separately. The resulting wine was aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.

Terraselecta is one of the most important wine groups in Spain. From Galicia to Jerez, they own new firms that make wines of the highest quality. In Castilla-La Mancha, the largest winegrowing region in the world, they go against the grain with Mano a Mano, a firm that only works with old, dry-farmed vineyards with an average age of 50 years.

Mano a Mano only makes wine from grapes grown in its own vineyards: a total of 330 hectares, of which 300 are located in Finca La Dehesa in Alhamabra (Ciudad Real), where the facilities are, and 30 in Finca Sierra de La Solana in Herencia, also in the province of Ciudad Real. These vines are more than half a century old, grow in poor soils and yield small amounts (2 kg per plant) of high-quality grapes.

The red Hacienda Montecorto Tempranillo Viñas Viejas 2018 (V.T. Castilla) is an ideal accompaniment to pork tenderloins with onions and vegetables.

Creators' opinion

Intense nose of red and stone fruit, cherry and plum, fresh with notes of cocoa and tobacco. Potent and tasty on the palate with sweet tannins.

Mano a Mano is a well-known winery with significant international projection, acting as the driving force behind the powerful Terra Selecta group. Mano a Mano is located in the heart of Castilla La Mancha, in Alhambra (Ciudad Real), where Terra Selecta identified an estate -Finca La Dehesa- with optimal characteristics for producing high-quality wines: very old dry-farmed bush vines planted on very poor soil. From there, they began vineyard work, focusing on exploring the potential of the tempranillo variety at different altitudes, soil types, and locations.

Currently, the winery has 300 hectares of vineyards on its Finca La Dehesa, vineyards over 50 years old cultivated on sandy soils with a bed of pebbles, iron, clay, and limestone, with very low yields not exceeding 2 kg per plant. Additionally, Bodegas Mano a Mano owns another vineyard in the Herencia area, Finca Sierra de La Solana, where they carry out experimental work with various varieties: syrah, cabernet sauvignon, graciano, touriga nacional…
