Juicy, round, and elegant, Garnacha de Prados 2021 ranks among the highest quality wines made from the predominant grape variety of the Aragonese denomination of Campo de Borja. This is supported by the recognitions and awards that this label receives, vintage after vintage, including the Gold Medal at the Garnachas del Mundo competition, and two silvers at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the Mundus Vini competition, respectively.
The secret to the success of Garnacha de Prados (formerly known as Prados Colección Garnacha) lies in its select origin -old vines from the La Marga (Bisimbre) area, some of them 80 years old, which at Pagos del Moncayo are cultivated and harvested sustainably and manually- and in a way of understanding winemaking as an absolutely artisanal labor.
The production of this fantastic single-varietal included partial destemming of the grapes, maceration in open vats with remontages by hand and foot, the traditional treading, and a meticulous aging of 10 months in French and American oak barrels. Due to its subtlety and kindness, Garnacha de Prados 2021 is the ideal accompaniment for meat dishes with red fruit sauce, stews, and pasta with tomato.
Garnacha de Prados displays a dark ruby color. It is the true expression of Mediterranean Garnacha, offering the characteristic fruity flavor of the variety, while preserving freshness. Notes of “garrigue” such as rosemary and thyme invite further drinking. Its time in barrel adds spicy notes of vanilla and coffee that, along with its great balance, complexity, and round tannins, create a great wine.
