Emina Crianza 2021 is a red wine with twelve months in barrel that combines power, freshness, and elegance; made from Tempranillo grapes grown in the heart of Ribera del Duero's 'Golden Mile'.

The red wine Emina Crianza 2021 is produced at the Valladolid-based Bodega Emina in Ribera del Duero and comes from the finest Tempranillo plots located in Valbuena de Duero and Pesquera de Duero. Its location, at over 900 meters above sea level, and the quality of the soil provide this Tempranillo with a perfect balance between freshness and voluptuousness.

With more than twelve months of aging in barrels and another twelve months of resting in the bottle, its aromas of noble woods and spicy notes emerge among elegant red and black fruits such as plum and raspberry. Emina Crianza 2021 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) pairs well with any type of dish, from sautéed vegetables, rice, or pasta to hearty stews and traditional dishes like lentils or Castilian stew.

Founded in 2005 in Valbuena de Duero, in the heart of the "Golden Mile" of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, Bodega Emina represents the most modern vision of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, a unique way of understanding wine and an example of how cutting-edge technology can work wonders in the service of winemaking. A winery, ultimately, that maximizes research and development while respecting enological traditions.

Tasting notes

Deep cardinal color with intense purplish tones and a very dense layer.

Aromas of ripe fruit and black and red fruit (raspberry, currant), a hint of soft lavender, touches of vanilla, spices like clove, noble woods, fine roasted notes, and elegant nuances of dark chocolate.

Structured, balanced wine with medium body and medium acidity, lively; sweet tannins combined with the acidity provide expressiveness and length, with fresh fruit, dark cocoa, licorice, and soft roasted notes reappearing, leading to a long finish.

The winery

Bodega Emina Ribera

Emina Ribera is the second winery founded in Ribera del Duero by the agronomist and winemaker Carlos Moro, following Matarromera. A brand characterized by its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability. Paloma Moro, the founder's daughter, is the current president of Emina.

The winery produces wines from its own carefully cultivated vineyards. The vines are intelligently monitored; they receive water, fertilizers, or phytosanitary treatments only when strictly necessary. The result is a reduction in their water footprint and respect for local biodiversity.

Commitment to environmental care is a fundamental part of its DNA. In fact, it was the first Spanish company with AENOR certification to measure its carbon footprint. It also holds the Wineries for Climate Protection certification and is part of International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), an association dedicated to combating climate change through innovative strategies to reduce carbon emissions.

Emina has two production facilities: one located in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in the municipality of Valbuena de Duero; and another in the D.O. Rueda. Additionally, it is present in Cigales, and from early 2024, in the D.O. Rías Baixas. In this way, its portfolio encompasses a wide variety of wine types: whites, rosés, barrel-fermented whites, sparkling wines, and reds.
