Cillar de Silos is one of the wineries that has revitalized Ribera del Duero since the nineties. The second winery that the family has launched is named Dominio del Pidio, and it is exclusively dedicated to the production of municipal wines. Here, Dominio del Pidio Rosado 2023 is produced, a blend of tempranillo (tinto fino) and albillo mayor from very old vines located in Quintana del Pidio, with an aging of 5 months in French oak. It exhibits intense notes of wild fruit and is elegant, fresh, and balanced.

General Information

Dominio del Pidio Rosado 2023 results from combining the red variety tempranillo (tinto fino) with the white grape albillo mayor. The vineyards that nourish it are up to 100 years old, and are located in Quintana del Pidio (Burgos) at an altitude of 880 m, on loamy clay and sandy soils, yielding only 2400 kg per hectare.

Half of the fruits fermented in concrete tanks; and the other half, in French oak barrels. Subsequently, the resulting white wine underwent 5 months of aging on lees in French oak, in 16th-century underground cellars.

Cillar de Silos is one of the wineries that has revitalized Ribera del Duero since the nineties. A firm established in Quintana del Pidio (Burgos), founded by Amalio Aragón, and today directed by his sons Roberto and Óscar Aragón. The first wines of Cillar de Silos saw the light in 1995, and since then, the winery has not stopped growing in quality and recognition.

Dominio del Pidio is the second winery that the family has launched, dedicated exclusively to the production of village wines. A firm that debuted with the 2014 vintage and only produces grapes from Quintana del Pidio; while Cillar de Silos also works vineyards in nearby municipalities, such as Gumiel de Mercado. From both firms, the family has been one of the main defenders of the albillo mayor grape and the whites of the area. And the result of this is the extraordinary Dominio del Pidio Rosado 2023, ideal for accompanying seafood, rice dishes, and even pizza.

The winery

Cillar de Silos is one of the wineries that has revitalized Ribera del Duero since the 1990s. A winery established in Quintana del Pidio (Burgos), founded by Amalio Aragón, who in the 1970s, against the trend of his fellow villagers, began gathering the best plots of old tempranillo vineyards in the area instead of uprooting them. This is a privileged area for this variety, located at an altitude of almost 900 m, where the tempranillo benefits from a slow ripening process. The first wines of Cillar de Silos were released in 1995. Since then, the winery has continued to grow in quality and recognition.
