General Information

Cyan Roble 2020 is made wholly from organically grown Tinta de Toro grapes (without using chemical fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides). They came from La Calera, an estate in Valdefinjas with sandy soils and a limestone base –  an area that produces wines with potency, structure and longevity. After being fermented in stainless steel tanks the wine was aged for 6 months in French and American barrels.

Bodegas Familiares Matarromera is one of the most famous examples of work well done in the Spanish wine world. Back in 1988 Carlos Moro, a well-known businessman of Castile and León from family of winegrowers, laid the foundations for this wine company that now owns nine leading wineries located in the main Denominaciones de Origen in the country, such as Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Rueda, Toro and Cigales, where they make their renowned and prizewinning wines.

Carlos Moro arrived in the D.O. Toro back in 1999, when, under the name of  Bodega Cyan, he set out to interpret some of the best old vineyards planted with the native Tinta de Toro variety in facilities located just outside the municipality of Valdefinjas.

The red Cyan Roble 2020 (D.O. Toro) is perfect with kid goat hotpot or stewed lamb with potatoes.

Creators' opinion

The winery

Bodega Cyan

The entrepreneur Carlos Moro founded Matarromera (D.O. Ribera del Duero) in 1988, a winery that achieved resounding success. Following this, the formation and expansion of the Matarromera Group began, which today is one of the most important wine empires in the country. Bodega Cyan (D.O. Toro) has been part of its successful portfolio of wineries since 1999.

Cyan drives the renewal and the great qualitative leap of the wines from D.O. Toro. A winery committed to making the most of some of the best vineyards of the native Tinta de Toro grape. It has 53 hectares of vineyards cultivated along the axis of the Valdefinjas valley, in one of the most coveted areas of the region, boasting a high percentage of old vines, the most valuable ones.

Following the model of the prestigious reds from Matarromera, Bodegas Cyan began a renewal in the style of its wines in 2010. A fresh approach to achieve more harmonious and balanced reds, with less presence of oak and greater elegance, focusing on meticulous vineyard care, precision winemaking, and aging in the finest barrels. We explore some of the best wines from the winery and complete the offering with two extra virgin olive oils produced in the group’s mill.
