General Information

Cyan de Matarromera Crianza 2022 is made exclusively for Vinoselección by Cyan in the D.O. Toro and is the result of our close relationship with Carlos Moro and his team at Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, who have guided the creation of this wine towards the varietal expression of Tinta de Toro.

The grapes come from the most special area of the denomination and from a harvest rated as Excellent. It is a single-varietal wine with a very distinctive expression that reflects the quality of the raw material. The production focuses on selection, and ageing takes place in French oak barrels with a maturation period of over 6 months, imparting notes of cedar, vanilla, and clove that are detectable on the nose, as well as smoky and cacao notes on the palate.

Cyan de Matarromera Crianza 2022 pairs very well with red meats and roasts, light game stews, dishes with cacao or smoked sauces, and cured cheeses, where its good acidity, volume, and spicy persistence provide contrast and continuity.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Expressive ripe cherry-red colour with an intense garnet edge, medium to full depth and brightness.

Nose: Elegant, fragrant and complex; nuances of ripe black fruits, noble woods (cedar), undergrowth, balsamic notes (liquorice) and spiced hints of vanilla and clove.

Palate: Good ripeness and flavour intensity, balanced and refined with volume; flavours of blackcurrant and cherry, smoky and cacao notes, excellent acidity, and a lasting spiced vanilla finish.

The winery

Bodega Cyan

The entrepreneur Carlos Moro founded Matarromera (D.O. Ribera del Duero) in 1988, a winery that achieved resounding success. Following this, the formation and expansion of the Matarromera Group began, which today is one of the most important wine empires in the country. Bodega Cyan (D.O. Toro) has been part of its successful portfolio of wineries since 1999.

Cyan drives the renewal and the great qualitative leap of the wines from D.O. Toro. A winery committed to making the most of some of the best vineyards of the native Tinta de Toro grape. It has 53 hectares of vineyards cultivated along the axis of the Valdefinjas valley, in one of the most coveted areas of the region, boasting a high percentage of old vines, the most valuable ones.

Following the model of the prestigious reds from Matarromera, Bodegas Cyan began a renewal in the style of its wines in 2010. A fresh approach to achieve more harmonious and balanced reds, with less presence of oak and greater elegance, focusing on meticulous vineyard care, precision winemaking, and aging in the finest barrels. We explore some of the best wines from the winery and complete the offering with two extra virgin olive oils produced in the group’s mill.
