The D.O. Ribera del Duero is a region of altitude, thermal amplitude, and austere soils that demand respect. From this demand come wines with character and balance, the result of tempranillo cultivated with patience and precision. The Colección Ribera del Duero Raíces highlights the essentials: the origin as a common thread, the vineyard as a teacher, and time as the best ally. Those seeking to understand the denomination will find here three paths leading to the same place: the land.
Each of the three wines in this collection showcases the unique characteristics of the land where it is born. We begin with Portia Selección de Familia 2024, an edition exclusively conceived for Vinoselección since 2012, made with tempranillo grown at over 800 meters of altitude and aged in oak barrels after fermentation in truncated cone-shaped tanks; a project supported by Bodegas Portia, an architectural icon in Gumiel de Izán and part of the Martínez Zabala Family. The next, Viyuela Reserva 2020, is a single-varietal tempranillo from Boada de Roa, produced from vines about 50 years old and harvested manually, aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, and endorsed by a vintage classified as Excellent in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Finally, Semele 2022 is a coupage dominated by tempranillo grapes from parcels between Valbuena del Duero and Pesquera de Duero, manually harvested and thoughtfully aged in French and American oak barrels, with periodic rackings and unfiltered. It is the emblematic label of Bodegas Montebaco for Vinoselección members.
