The vinification of Clos Adèle takes place in 500-liter French oak barrels, where the wine ferments and then rests on its fine lees for seven months. This process allows a subtle integration of the oak, translating into elegant smoky nuances and a mineral backbone that enhances its complexity and character.
Founded in 2006 by Marc and Emma Bournazeau, Terra Remota is the result of a clear vision: to craft high-quality wines in harmony with nature. Their arrival in this Catalan landscape marked the beginning of a project deeply rooted in the terroir, where every wine tells a story. In the case of Clos Adèle 2020, that story is a personal one — the wine bears the name of the couple’s daughter, a testament to the emotional and family-driven spirit that defines the estate.
With a limited production of 3,200 bottles per year and protected by the Denominación de Origen Empordà, Clos Adèle presents itself as a fresh, delicate and vibrant white wine. Its mineral profile and structure make it the perfect pairing for grilled fish, seafood, and Mediterranean rice dishes.
Bodegas Terra Remota is the winery of Marc and Emma Bournezeau, a couple of French origin but with Catalan roots (Emma's grandfather went into exile in France after the Spanish Civil War). For the family, the winery represents a return to their origins and the recovery of a lost identity. In the year 2000, they acquired some land in Empordà after realizing the excellent conditions the area offered for producing quality wines. Thus, in 2006, the family winery was founded.
The winery is located in the northeasternmost corner of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Alt Empordà region (Girona), within the D.O. Empordà. It is a unique, solitary place, a remote land, as the winery's name suggests, situated between the villages of Capmany and Sant Climent Sescebes. A modern building designed by Pepe Cortés alongside architect Nacho Ferrero, perfectly integrated with the terrain and conceived with a focus on environmental respect, technical functionality, contemporaneity, and transparency. These are the concepts that underpin their elegant and fresh wines, which clearly prioritize quality, respect for raw materials, and personalization.
The winery has an estate of 40 hectares at the foothills of the pre-Pyrenees with soils of sauló and granite. This is an interesting terrain for viticulture because, while it is not very fertile, it allows for excellent drainage.
Terra Remota operates under a philosophy of respect for the environment and nature. This is also evident in the farming practices they use to craft their excellent wines, through the organic cultivation of their vineyards.
Across the 12 well-differentiated plots of the estate, they cultivate red and white varieties of all kinds. These range from traditional varieties in the Empordà area such as Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Blanca, and Tempranillo, to French varieties like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, including an experimental plot with Chenin Blanc.
