Founded in 1853, Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the five Premiers Grands Crus wineries of Bordeaux. From the best plots of its dream vineyard of 90 hectares come the cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and petit verdot grapes used to produce Château Mouton Rothschild 2017, a vintage that has already made history thanks to the extremely high ratings from the specialized international critics.
2015 represents a turning point in the recent history of Château Mouton Rothschild. The harvest of that year was the first after the death of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, with the new generation, embodied in her three children, taking the helm of the century-old winery. The new chapter could not have started on a better note. The exceptional quality of this red wine, practically perfect, captivates with its refinement and exclusivity in every detail, including its label, which, as is customary for the house since 1945, features the illustration of a renowned artist, in this particular case, the French artist Annette Messager.
Of an attractive and deep dark garnet with purple reflections.
The nose, refined and elegant, reveals, first and foremost, fruity aromas of wild blackberry and blueberry. Subsequently, notes of toasted bread, licorice, and blond tobacco emerge.
On the palate, it is balanced, fresh, yet intense, with full body and a slightly saline and mineral touch. The palate is filled with rich ripe fruit and mildly spicy notes. Smooth and creamy tannins. Exceptionally long finish.
