General Information

As its name suggests, Castaño Colección Cepas Viejas 2018 is made from old monastrell vines –the queen grape of Levante- and the international cabernet sauvignon. A mature red wine, with fruity aromas and subtle toasted and cocoa touches provided by the barrel (10 months of aging). Good structure, sweet tannins, and complexity on the palate.

Bodegas Castaño is one of the benchmarks in the Mediterranean wine sector and a spearhead of the D.O. Yecla due to its trajectory and achievements with the native varieties of the area, mainly with monastrell. Ramón Castaño Santa was the founder of the winery in 1950. In the mid-seventies, he acquired his first vineyards and began bottling in 1980.

After several generations linked to the world of wine, the Castaño family has managed to adapt the legacy of previous generations with the incorporation of new technologies and the most modern winemaking systems at the service of its magnificent viticultural heritage. Currently, it has 600 hectares of vineyards and markets around 90% of its production in the international market.

Castaño Colección Cepas Viejas 2018 is perfect for pairing with red meats, roast lamb, stews, and small game dishes or with cured cheeses.
