Description of their own wines
"A precise work with the native varieties, especially the Monastrell, and the incorporation of other varieties adapted to the climate and soil of the D.O. Yecla into the vineyard, allow for the wide range of wines produced at Bodegas Castaño. All of them are structured and with a proper balance."
Professional career

Taking up the legacy of their ancestors, Ramón Castaño Santa began his journey as a winegrower and winemaker in 1972 in Yecla, although it was not until 1985 that Bodegas Castaño was established as a registered company. During the 1980s, Ramón Castaño's three sons joined the family business. The family's main goal has been to make the most of the native grape varieties, especially Monastrell, as a distinguishing feature. With an enterprising and innovative spirit, the Castaño family has managed to maintain their connection to the land and the winemaking traditions of the region, while also incorporating the latest technological advances and new winemaking systems. Currently, the winery is managed by the brothers Ramón, Juan Pedro, and Daniel Castaño Muñoz.

In 2003, the Castaño family expanded their scope to the nearby D.O. Jumilla, where they acquired the 50-hectare El Cuadrado vineyard and founded the winery Altos del Cuadrado.
