General Information

Carchelo Ciento80 Viñedos de Paraje 2021 is a blend of monastrell, syrah, and garnacha. The harvest was carried out manually in September 2021 in 250 kg boxes. The vineyards that provide the grapes are between 20 and 40 years old and are located on the slopes of the Paraje Sierra del Carche, at an altitude of 600 to 750 meters, with limestone soils, poor in nutrients, and sandy-loam subsoils, which contribute concentration and freshness to the grapes. After being vinified in stainless steel tanks, the resulting red wine was aged for 13 months in French oak barrels.

Long before the guru Robert Parker pointed to the D.O. Jumilla as one of Spain's most promising regions, Bodegas Carchelo (1990) was already succeeding both domestically and internationally. Thus, their red wines have been promoting the name of Jumilla around the world for over 30 years.

Founded in 1990 in Jumilla, Bodegas Carchelo inherits a winemaking tradition that goes back three generations. Its facilities are located at the foot of the Sierra del Carche and are equipped with the latest technologies. Regarding the vineyard, it owns 100 hectares cultivated with monastrell –the queen grape of Levante– and other national and international varieties. The focus on high-altitude monastrell vines (600 m) and its blending with other varieties are two distinctive features of this winery.

Carchelo Ciento80 Viñedos de Paraje 2021 (D.O. Jumilla) holds organic and vegan wine certifications. A red wine ideal for pairing with rabbit and snail rice or mushroom risotto.

Long before the guru Robert Parker highlighted Jumilla as one of Spain's most promising wine regions, Bodegas Carchelo (1990) was already thriving both domestically and internationally. For 30 years, its red wines have carried the name of this historic Murcian town across the globe. This is, therefore, a visionary winery in the promotion of Jumilla, a pioneer in believing in monastrell -the queen grape of the area- to produce quality wines, at a time when production in the region was limited to rustic wines sold in bulk to be blended with others.
