Can Sumoi Xarel·lo 2024 is the purest expression of one of the most cherished native Catalan white grape varieties. The new winery for still and natural wines by Raventós i Blanc produces this fantastic single-varietal high-altitude wine, made from recovered vineyards in the Bajo Penedès.

Clean, fresh, and harmonious, Can Sumoi Xarel·lo 2024 is one of the single-varietal wines, exclusively featuring native Catalan grapes, with which the newly established winery for natural and still wines of the prestigious family firm Raventós i Blanc made its debut.
The estate where it is located, Can Sumoi, gives its name to this new project. It is an old agricultural farm from 1645, situated in El Montmell (Tarragona), at an altitude of 600 meters. There, under the direction of Pepe Raventós, winemaker and viticulturist, they produce wines that aim to be a true reflection of their origin. They achieve this by reviving the most ancestral rural traditions and rejecting any kind of enological artifice.
Can Sumoi Xarel·lo 2024 was born from the fruit of 50-year-old xarel·lo vines, under recovery, planted in bush form, on clay-limestone soils, and cultivated following the principles of organic viticulture. The production of this unique white wine included its alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, at controlled temperature and with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard, as well as spontaneous malolactic fermentation with its fine lees, for 3 months with two battonages per week. The result is a wine from the D.O. Penedès, very intense on the nose with aromas of Mediterranean herbs and balsamic notes, and very flavorful, almost saline, on the palate.
