Vineyards of Garnacha grown on slate soils, Cariñena planted on clay soils, and Syrah from limestone soils form the base of Can Blau 2022, a red wine of great complexity that has aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. Among the qualities of this Montsant red, its fruity aromas, power, meatiness, and concentration stand out.
Cellers Can Blau was founded in 2003 and is one of the oldest projects of the Gil family outside Jumilla. The winery is located in El Molar, in the heart of the D.O. Montsant. The company works with the varieties Cariñena, Syrah, and Garnacha, grown in soils of different orientation, composition, and altitude, resulting in wines with great richness and complexity.
The structure, fruit, and depth of Can Blau 2022 make it a very versatile red wine that pairs perfectly with rice dishes with game meat and creamy textures, grilled and pan-seared white and red meats, stewed legumes, cured and blue cheeses, mushrooms, game and poultry, fish and seafood in sauce, smoked dishes, roasted lamb, pork, and beef.
Can Blau displays a beautiful cherry color with purple reflections. It exhibits a collection of aromatic attributes where ripe fruit and spice aromas stand out. With great power and complexity, it offers an almost panoramic vision of the possibilities of the D.O. Montsant. Fruity, powerful, meaty, and concentrated, imbued with the notes of the terruño, it shows an elegant breadth of flavors on the palate and a long, fresh, and spicy finish.
Part of the Juan Gil Family Estates group, Cellers Can Blau began its journey in 2003, becoming one of the first initiatives developed by the legendary Gil winemaking family outside their native Jumilla. Located in El Molar and part of the D.O. Montsant, the winery's philosophy focuses on working with the best vineyards in the region, predominantly indigenous. The technical direction of the winery is led by Nuria López Sarroca.
