General Information

Caminante 2023 is a full-bodied, fine, and mineral white wine that faithfully expresses the terroir where it originates. Vinified by plots, the grapes of the garnacha blanca, chardonnay, and chenin blanc varieties are selected and destemmed. Before being pressed, they are chilled to 6ºC in cold storage, which contributes to the wine's good aromatic length. Its production features controlled temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, with bâtonnage, and aging on fine lees, which lasted for 8 months. After the final blending of the musts and bottling, the result is a white wine with great freshness and minerality.

Terra Remota was founded in 2006 thanks to Marc and Emma Bournezeau, a couple of French origin with Spanish roots, who embarked on this project after traveling to Empordà and discovering the region's excellent conditions for producing quality wines. The concept of ‘camino,’ and the entire subsequent range of wines, comes from the famous poem by Antonio Machado. The winery has 40 hectares of land, of which 23 are dedicated to the cultivation of organic vineyards of both white and red varieties, native and foreign.

Under a warm and dry Mediterranean climate, and on granite soil, the Catalan winery practices organic farming, with manual agricultural work and mechanical tillage. These characteristics support the quality of Caminante 2023, a white wine from the D.O. Empordá that stands out for its versatility. Ideal for accompanying fish in sauce or grilled, white meats, all kinds of seafood, and cheeses.

Terra Remota
Winery

Bodegas Terra Remota is the winery of Marc and Emma Bournezeau, a couple of French origin but with Catalan roots (Emma's grandfather went into exile in France after the Spanish Civil War). For the family, the winery represents a return to their origins and the recovery of a lost identity. In the year 2000, they acquired some land in Empordà after realizing the excellent conditions the area offered for producing quality wines. Thus, in 2006, the family winery was founded.

The winery is located in the northeasternmost corner of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Alt Empordà region (Girona), within the D.O. Empordà. It is a unique, solitary place, a remote land, as the winery's name suggests, situated between the villages of Capmany and Sant Climent Sescebes. A modern building designed by Pepe Cortés alongside architect Nacho Ferrero, perfectly integrated with the terrain and conceived with a focus on environmental respect, technical functionality, contemporaneity, and transparency. These are the concepts that underpin their elegant and fresh wines, which clearly prioritize quality, respect for raw materials, and personalization.

The winery has an estate of 40 hectares at the foothills of the pre-Pyrenees with soils of sauló and granite. This is an interesting terrain for viticulture because, while it is not very fertile, it allows for excellent drainage.

Terra Remota operates under a philosophy of respect for the environment and nature. This is also evident in the farming practices they use to craft their excellent wines, through the organic cultivation of their vineyards.

Across the 12 well-differentiated plots of the estate, they cultivate red and white varieties of all kinds. These range from traditional varieties in the Empordà area such as Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Blanca, and Tempranillo, to French varieties like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, including an experimental plot with Chenin Blanc.
