Graciano is a grape variety that not everyone dares make wine from because it has its complications, but these grapes produce tremendously lively wines when they’re properly ripe, as in this case. Burgo Viejo Graciano 2022 won a gold medal at the international Berliner Wine Trophy competition and comes from organic vineyards located in the municipality of Alfaro. It has intense aromas, predominant notes of blackberry and underbrush, and is silky, fresh and long on the palate with a hint of sweetness. This wine is a great way of savouring this very special Rioja grape variety.

General Information
Burgo Viejo Graciano 2022 is a single-varietal wine made from organic grapes. These Graciano grapes come from organic vineyards owned by the winery in the municipality of Alfaro. They were destemmed and gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in concrete vats.
Burgo Viejo is an innovative firm that started out in 1987 when five grape-growing families of Alfaro teamed up. It uses grapes from its owners’ vineyards, which span more than 200 hectares in the municipality of Alfaro, and only purchases very select batches from a few local grape growers. These ingredients go into making wines that reflect the identity of the terroir of Alfaro. The firm’s broad range includes experimental wines produced in small quantities and single-varietals and it employs 500-litre barrels, amphoras, etc. It is also committed to organic production and is preparing to launch in the near future its ‘single-vineyard’ wines, the top category of the D.O.Ca. Rioja.
Burgo Viejo Graciano 2022 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is ideal with fillet of Ibérico pork in whisky or medallions with foie.
