Franco-Españolas is a leading name among Spain’s historic wineries and one of the few firms with a more than 125-year track record of producing quality wines. We’re introducing you to the label created in honour of the firm’s founder, Frederick Anglade, in an Excellent-rated year in the D.O.Ca. Rioja: Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2020. An example of traditional Rioja wines, it exhibits aromas of jammy red fruit and spicy and smoky notes in the nose, and the palate is round, balanced and gently structured.

General Information

Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2020 is designed from Tempranillo grapes that grow on vines located in Rioja Alta in calcareous-clay soils at an altitude of between 470 and 650 metres, which lend it freshness and elegance. It furthermore comes from a great year, 2020, which was rated as Excellent.

After being destemmed, the grapes were fermented with their skins at an average temperature of 22º C. The wine then remained in contact with the skins for 7 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in new medium-toast American oak barrels. It was finally aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas is a leading name among Spain’s historic wineries. Founded in 1890 by Frenchman Frederick Anglade, together with other Spanish partners (hence the name ‘Franco-Españolas’), today it’s wholly Spanish-owned and has been in the hands of the Eguizábal family since 1983.

Bodegas Franco-Españolas caters to the tastes of today’s consumers but respecting the winery’s historical legacy. Its elegantly designed facilities span 59,000 square metres in the heart of Logroño, and its underground cellars house 15,000 barrels.

Bordón D’Anglade Crianza 2020 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) goes very well with shoulder of lamb or beef hamburgers.

The winery

Bodegas Franco-Españolas
Bodegas Franco-Españolas is a true benchmark among the historic wineries of our country. Founded in 1890 by the Frenchman Frederick Anglade, from the Anglade firm, together with other Spanish partners (hence the name “Franco-Españolas”), it is now entirely Spanish-owned and has been in the hands of the Eguizábal family since 1983.

Located in the heart of Logroño, Bodegas Franco-Españolas caters to the current tastes of consumers while respecting the winery's historical legacy, because, as they themselves state, “there are few things better than a good classic.” Its facilities, featuring elegant architecture, span 59,000 square meters, and its underground cellars house 15,000 barrels where their Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wines are aged.
