General Information

González-Byass leaves its masterful imprint on Apóstoles Palo Cortado, a fortified wine of great complexity and velvety intensity, the result of the perfect fusion between palomino fino, Pedro Ximénez, and American oak.

The renowned Jerez winery González Byass produces this wine from the solera of the Apóstoles, so named because each of the barrels bears the name of one of Christ's 12 disciples. It was Queen Isabel II, during a visit to the firm's facilities in 1862, who inaugurated this centuries-old solera.

The absolute uniqueness of Apóstoles Palo Cortado has earned it numerous awards and recognitions, both national and international, including the award for Best Wine of the Year 2013 in China, according to the specialized magazine Wine in China.

Tasting notes

Dark amber color.

On the nose, concentrated aromas of fruit stand out.

The winery

González Byass

In 1835, the entrepreneur Manuel María González Angel arrived in Jerez with the intention of doing business with the growing demand for Sherry from England. He acquired a small winery that, by 1955, was overwhelmed by its success. Manuel María González partnered with his agent in England, Mr. Robert Blake Byass, thus founding the company González-Byassz. Today, it is the fifth generation of the González family who lead this family heritage business.

Currently, the González Byass group is made up of a wide range of wineries producing in the most emblematic and important denominations of origin in Spain (with Beronia in the D.O.Ca. Rioja; Viñas del Vero in the D.O. Somontano; Vilarnau in Catalonia; Finca Constancia in Toledo, Finca Moncloa in Cádiz, Pazos de Lusco in the D.O. Rías Baixas, and the Tío Pepe winery in Jerez).Among the products offered by the group, the emblematic wines of Jerez, their cavas, brandies, anises, liqueurs, gin, oils, vinegars, spirits, among others, stand out.
