The Ceretto winery -Ceretto Aziende Vitivinicole- was established in the 1930s through the figure of Riccardo Ceretto. He did not own his own vineyards but produced wine by purchasing grapes from other growers.
In 1960, the winery underwent a radical transformation. Bruno and Marcelo, the sons of Riccardo Ceretto, entered the scene and began searching for the lands where the best wines were produced, deciding to purchase some of them. The aim was to produce high-quality wines that expressed the typicity of their origin.
In 1970, they acquired an extensive list of vineyards and wineries, including notable ones like Bricco Asili in Barbaresco and Bricco Roche in Barolo. Additionally, they made new acquisitions such as Monsordo Bernardina, Arbarei, Rossana, and Blangè in Alba; I Vignaioli Di Santo Stefano in Santo Stefano Belbo, and the Distilleria Ceretto in La Morra.
With its vineyard heritage and wide range of wines, Riccardo Ceretto stands today as one of the ambassadors of the Italian Piedmont. His sons are currently the owners of one of the most important wineries in the DOCG Barbaresco and Barolo regions.
The wines from the Ceretto winery perfectly combine tradition, the family's expertise, and an elegant modernity. Alessandro Ceretto, son of Marcelo and part of the third generation, may have a certain responsibility for this. He is in charge of the vineyards and serves as the winemaker for the wine company. Precision and discernment are the winemaker's guiding principles in selecting the best vineyards and choosing the grapes to craft the company’s outstanding wines.
