With a history spanning over 150 years, Bodegas Faustino stands as a benchmark in Spanish winemaking and one of the sector's most iconic family-owned businesses. Founded in 1861 by Eleuterio Martínez in Oyón—in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region—the winery has remained under the stewardship of the Martínez Zabala family for generations; today, they lead a well-established, internationally recognized group.
True to a philosophy that places the vineyard at the core of everything, Bodegas Faustino defines itself first and foremost as a family of winegrowers. It owns nearly 650 hectares of vineyards in some of the finest areas of the Rioja D.O.Ca., where clay-limestone soils and favorable climatic conditions support the cultivation of varieties such as Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo, and Viura.
Over the years, the company has expanded its footprint by establishing wineries in several of Spain's leading designations of origin, forming a group comprising seven distinct wine projects. Its prestige has been acknowledged through accolades such as the "Best of Wine Tourism 2026" award, the "European Winery of the Year" title from Wine Enthusiast, and its inclusion among the world's 15 most admired wine brands by Drinks International.
Today, Bodegas Faustino wines are available in more than 70 countries. A standout among them is Faustino I Gran Reserva, widely considered the best-selling Rioja Gran Reserva in the world. All of this is achieved while maintaining a commitment to increasingly sustainable viticulture—prioritizing respect for nature and employing precision techniques designed to preserve the vineyards and their surrounding environment.
