Faustino I 75 Aniversario Gran Reserva 2016 is a commemorative edition celebrating the first 75 years of history of Bodegas Faustino, one of the most iconic wineries in Rioja. Founded in 1945 in Oyón, Rioja Alavesa, this family-owned firm has been instrumental in promoting the region's great laying-down wines overseas. This Gran Reserva pays tribute to the legacy of three generations dedicated to excellence and represents the culmination of decades of experience, tradition and a forward-looking approach.
The 2016 vintage was rated as Very Good by the regulatory board of the D.O.Ca. Rioja and offered ideal conditions for producing wines with great balance and ageing potential. Faustino I 75th Anniversary Gran Reserva 2016 is a single-varietal Tempranillo from selected vineyards. After 26 months in American and French oak barrels and a long period maturing in the bottle, the wine displays remarkable aromatic complexity, with notes of ripe fruit, sweet spices, leather and tobacco, and a silky and elegant texture.

The winery
Founded in Oyón (Álava) by Eleuterio Martínez in 1861, Bodegas Faustino is an internationally renowned winery, whose wines are recognized by consumers. It is the flagship of Familia Martínez Zabala, one of the major family-owned winery companies in our country, present in more than 140 countries. Since its creation, Bodegas Faustino has been managed by the same family, the Martínez family, who have continued generation after generation producing and aging their wines at the facilities in Oyón.
The winery boasts a stock of over 60,000 barrels and nine million bottles, and holds the largest collection of legendary vintages of D.O.Ca. Rioja. Their wines are sourced from 750 hectares in the Rioja Alavesa area, spread across the municipalities of Laguardia and Oyón.
In 2023, Bodegas Faustino was once again recognized, for the sixth year, among the 50 most admired brands in the world according to the British magazine Drinks International, in the ranking ‘The World's Most Admired Wine Brands 2023’.
