The story of Bodega Vinultra begins with two adventurous young nature lovers from New Zealand's South Island, on a journey that would lead them to create some of the purest wines in the Marlborough region of New Zealand.
After training in Europe for five years, Mark Duns and Fleur McCree acquired a unique piece of land in Waihopai Valley (Marlborough). What began as a rundown sheep farm in 2002 transformed six years later into 41 hectares of vineyard comprising five blocks, five different soil types, five varieties, and nine clones. With the establishment of this vineyard, Vinultra was born.
In the words of its creators, "the plan was, and still is, to never be big. It was about showcasing our sense of belonging. Producing wines tailored to our conditions (our terroir) and adapting activities to meet the needs of our individual customers."
This independent and sustainably certified winery boasts high-quality estate vineyards, with vines oriented north to south, planted with sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, riesling, pinot gris, and gewurztraminer varieties.
Behind the creations of Bodega Vinultra, which includes labels such as Pounamu, Little Beauty, and Insight, is the figure of winemaker Eveline Fraser. Her talent, combined with the winery's expertise and the tireless work of the viticulturists, forms the foundation for crafting elegant, intense, and balanced wines, notable for their great natural acidity and perfectly reflecting the essence of their terroir of origin.
