Aiurri

Alma Carraovejas, from the Ruiz Aragoneses family, is a group known worldwide for its iconic red wine Pago de Carraovejas, created in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. From there, it began an expansion that led it to other denominations of origin, such as the D.O.Ca. Rioja, where it launched the Aiurri project in the municipality of Leza, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Here, they work with small plots of old vines, some over a hundred years old, with the aim of highlighting the richness of this enclave.

In the winery, they develop gravity-based winemaking and vinify each plot separately in containers ranging from 500 to 4000 kilos until the final blending. Fermentations are spontaneous, and the extractions are gentle with very controlled temperatures.
