The recipe for the success of Viña Alberdi Crianza 2019 has several ingredients: an Excellent vintage, tempranillo grapes from old vines in the municipalities of Rodezno and Labastida, careful aging, and a production based on more than 130 years of experience to achieve great wines.
The vineyards, over 40 years old, are located at an altitude of 500-600 m and are planted in clay-limestone soils. The harvest was carried out manually in boxes, with cluster selection in the field. The grapes were transported refrigerated to the winery, and after passing through the optical sorting table, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation was carried out. Next, this red wine underwent two years of aging in American oak barrels of our own making (new in the first year and 4 wines in the second). During this stage, the winery carried out 4 traditional rackings, by candlelight, from barrel to barrel to manually separate the sediments and avoid aggressive filtration.
Founded in 1890, La Rioja Alta, S.A. is one of the centenary wineries in the Haro Station District, creator of such coveted wines as Viña Ardanza, Gran Reserva 904, or Viña Arana. Viña Alberdi is one of its youngest brands, launched in 1978, and also the only single-varietal tempranillo produced by the winery.
Viña Alberdi Crianza 2019 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) stands out for its great gastronomic versatility. Ideal for accompanying appetizers, snacks, nibbles, and barbecues, it is perfect with rice dishes, pastas, and creams, as well as with mild grilled meats and fish.
La Rioja Alta, S.A., has gone down in history as one of the emblems of the best-understood Rioja classicism, a style that has brought worldwide fame to this region. From its operations center in the famous Barrio de la Estación in Haro, considered the heart of Spanish wine, this century-old company has stood for over a century as a champion of the highest quality. La Rioja Alta, S.A., has managed to evolve very well over time, introducing small changes but without breaking away, reaching today as one of the most prestigious and active winemaking companies in the country.
Despite its long and successful winemaking trajectory, La Rioja Alta, S.A., has not rested on its laurels. In 1995, it began its expansion strategy with the acquisition of Torre de Oña, also in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, a beautiful winery with vineyards surrounding the facilities, in the style of French châteaux. And already in the 21st century, it has extended its domains beyond Rioja, investing in two of the most important denominations of origin in our country: Ribera del Duero and Rías Baixas.
