The D.O. is located in the west of the province of Valencia, on the inland plateau. In this denomination, red wines dominate: 94% of the vineyard area is planted with red varieties. Among these red varieties, the bobal grape reigns supreme, occupying approximately two-thirds of the vineyard area due to its excellent adaptation to the microclimate of this region.
With bobal, rosé wines are also produced, with a long-standing tradition in the area. White wines are mainly made with macabeo, although in recent years, those made with international grapes like sauvignon blanc and chardonnay have gained prominence. Sparkling wines are also produced in this D.O.
