Ribera del Queiles

The creation of the Protected Geographical Indication Vino de la Tierra Ribera del Queiles, located between Navarra and Aragón, was a specific request by Bodegas Guelbenzu that became a reality through a ministerial order on November 10, 2003. The Queiles Valley, traversed by the river of the same name, crosses the southern part of Navarra’s Ribera region, originating from the northern slopes of Moncayo. The river gently flows down from the mountain’s foothills and empties into the Ebro near Tudela. This PGI encompasses wines made from grapes grown in the Aragón municipalities of Grisel, Lituénigo, Los Fayos, Malón, Novallas, Santa Cruz del Moncayo, Tarazona, Torrellas, and Vierlas; and the Navarra municipalities of Ablitas, Barillas, Cascante, Monteagudo, Murchante, Tudela (the part located south of the Ebro River), and Tulebras.
Climate
Cold winters with heavy frosts and hot summers with mild nighttime temperatures, caused by the proximity of the Sistema Ibérico.
Soil
The predominant soils are tertiary sedimentary, with extensive quaternary alluvial plains along the riverbeds.
