Ribera del Júcar

The D.O. Ribera del Júcar is located in Cuenca, with an average altitude of 750 meters, nearly 9,000 hectares, and 7 wineries, most of them cooperatives. The soils are composed of alluvial pebbles with a clayey base, and half of the vineyard is around 35-40 years old. Regarding the predominant grape varieties, they include tempranillo (cencibel) and bobal for reds; and for whites, moscatel de grano menudo, airén, and macabeo.

Climate
Mediterranean-type climate during spring and summer. Mild days and cool nights. Mild autumns and winters with high average rainfall.
Soil
Abundance of sandy clays, marls, sandstones, and limestones. The soil is covered with pebbles, which promotes drainage and water retention.
