Península de Setúbal

The I.G. Península de Setúbal is a production area that stretches along the estuary of the Tagus River, south of Lisbon, encompassing regions such as Palmela, Montijo, Setúbal, Grândola, and Alcácer do Sal.

With a total vineyard area of 9,500 hectares, this production zone includes the denominations of origin Palmela and Setúbal, the latter renowned for the Moscatel de Setúbal, one of the most appreciated wines in Portugal. The wide variety of grape varieties planted and the diversity of soils in which they grow endow the whites and reds of the Península de Setúbal with great personality and complexity.
Climate
Clearly Mediterranean, with warm and dry summers and rainy winters with high humidity.
Soil
Of very heterogeneous composition. Alternation of flat areas with fine sands and more mountainous terrains with clay-limestone soils near the Serra da Arrábida.
