Professional career

José Manuel Pérez Ovejas (Pedrosa de Duero, 1965) was the technical director of Bodegas Hermanos Pérez Pascuas Viña Pedrosa from 1989 to 2019, the year he parted ways with the family winery and started his personal project, Dominio de Calogía.

In 2017, he was awarded by the newspaper Expansión as Best Winemaker of the Year; and in 2018, La Semana Vitivinícola recognized him as Best Oenologist.

Currently, he is a member of the tasting committee and the appeals committee of the Regulatory Council of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin; a jury member of the most important national and international wine competitions; and an oenological advisor to other wineries such as Pagos de Anguix.
