Located in the Veneto region, it was founded in 1977 as DOC Montello e Colli Asolani. Montello Rosso was established as an independent DOCG in 2011. The name changed to DOC Montello Asolo in 2020.
It is a small denomination, with 80 hectares of vineyards, specializing in the production of red wines with varieties of French origin, mainly cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. The red varieties carmenère, merlot, and recantina are also authorized. As for the white varieties, the main ones are bianchetta trevigiana, chardonnay, glera, manzoni bianco, pinot bianco, and pinot grigio.
