Barbaresco

Located in the northwest of Italy, in the wine region of Piedmont, the D.O.C.G. Barbaresco is a production area dedicated to red wine made from nebbiolo grapes in the towns of Barbaresco, Neive, and Treiso.

Its 500 hectares of vineyards produce approximately 2.5 million bottles per year of a wine with a very complex and elegant nose, full body, and rich tannins on the palate. Despite sharing the use of the nebbiolo grape with the neighboring Barolo appellation, the red wines from these two areas show some differences. The influence of the Tanaro River causes the nebbiolo in Barbaresco to ripen earlier, shortening the fermentation and maceration processes and resulting in softer tannins compared to those found in Barolo wines.
Climate
Continental with very hot summers and long, cold winters. The south, southwest, and southeast sun exposure of the vines is unbeatable and crucial for the quality of the nebbiolo cultivation.
Soil
The vineyard of the D.O.C.G. Barbaresco is predominantly situated on clay soils, rich in limestone, at an average altitude of between 200 and 400 meters above sea level.
