Resurrected from oblivion thanks to the efforts of producers in Levante to promote its recovery and reintroduction, Mandó, a low-yielding red grape variety, is mainly cultivated in the region of Moixent, in the southwest of the province of Valencia, along with some wine-growing areas of Cataluña.
The Mandó grape clusters are conical, medium-sized, and quite compact. Its berries are small and spherical, with a beautiful violet hue, especially as they ripen.
This vinifera produces modern-style wines with great personality, typically contributing sweet aromas and notes of ripe banana. When used in coupages, it delivers magnificent results.
