Armenteira 2025 originates in D.O. Rías Baixas as a clean, fresh and balanced Albariño white, designed for those seeking a direct glass with personality. The touch of Lagar de Fornelos, a winery integrated into the La Rioja Alta, S.A. group, is evident in its precision and its elegant tension. Let yourself be captivated by its character.
Consumption features
Pairing
The careful selection of Armenteira 2025, with its precise production and its ageing on fine lees, makes it particularly appealing at an Atlantic kitchen table with clean flavours, where its freshness and its saline finish are expressed naturally. It pairs very well with steamed mussels, salt-crusted sea bass and Pulpo a Feira, and also with a marinera-style clams or a seafood rice.
Armenteira 2025 was harvested with plot-by-plot monitoring to preserve as much as possible the quality of the grapes. The harvest began on 22 August in O Rosal and continued a few days later in the vineyards of the Salnés Valley; it was carried out manually, with a first selection in the field, and the grapes were moved to the winery in small refrigerated crates. All of this allowed work with special precision, favouring a very clean entry into the winery and a particularly demanding selection of the fruit.
Winemaking
Armenteira 2025 delivers a crisp, direct expression of Albariño, faithful to the fresh style of Lagar de Fornelos in the D.O. Rías Baixas. The grape, carefully selected, was first subjected to a pre-chilling of the must and then to a gentle pressing, a choice designed to preserve the varietal profile and maintain aromatic purity.
After racking, the musts fermented at a controlled temperature in the winery, aimed at refining the wine's tension and precision. In this vintage malolactic fermentation was discarded, because the initial balance was already optimal. The process was completed with lees contact and periodic batonnage, contributing greater complexity, volume and a broader texture without losing freshness.
Aging
Armenteira 2025 remained in contact with its fine lees, with periodic lees stirring that contributed complexity and body to the wine. No bottle-ageing time is specified prior to its release onto the market.
Bottling
Second vintage of this exclusive wine for Vinoselección, presented as a special Albariño batch.
Vineyard
Description
Climate
Armenteira 2025 reflects a mild Atlantic climate in the D.O. Rías Baixas. Winter was drier than usual, spring wet and mild, and flowering developed without periods of rain, favouring an excellent fruit set. Summer was moderate, allowing slow and balanced ripening, preserving natural acidity and a pronounced varietal expression in the grape.
Viticulture
In Armenteira 2025, viticulture is based on thorough, plot-by-plot monitoring and manual harvest with an initial selection in the vineyard, a method of working that aims to preserve as much as possible the freshness and varietal expression of the Albariño; in addition, the grapes were collected in small refrigerated crates and each berry was inspected at the winery using an optical sorter, reinforcing a highly precise and selective approach throughout the process.
There is no mention of using special farming practices with farm animals or any concrete ecological or biodynamic practices.

Creators' opinion
