Vol d´Ànima de Raimat 2021 exceptionally represents the current and innovative spirit of the century-old homonymous winery. To find this parallel, three grape varieties were used in Raimat for its production: cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, and syrah. The grapes were harvested at night, taking advantage of a cooler and more suitable temperature to maintain the primary fruity aromas. Once in the winery, the harvest is cooled to 15 Cº and vinified separately to achieve, on the one hand, a fruitier and fresher profile by maintaining a lower temperature, and on the other hand, greater texture and complexity in the part of the grape that is fermented at a higher temperature. The combination of both fermentations offers an excellent result.
Raimat is a winery of the Codorníu group, founded in 1914 when Manuel Raventós i Domenech acquired land in the Catalan province of Lleida. Today, the estate extends over 2245 hectares of certified organic vineyard. A clear example of the winery's commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for the land.
The Raimat winery belongs to the D.O. Costers del Segre, distinguished by a moderate continental climate with clear Mediterranean influences. These climatic conditions, combined with sustainable viticulture, offer in this Vol d´Ànima de Raimat 2021 a wine with a lot of fruit and structure on the palate, making it ideal to accompany a multitude of dishes such as game, mushrooms, meats, legumes, sausages, and rice dishes.
Vol d'Ànima de Raimat displays a cherry red color with garnet reflections, colored and abundant tears. Clean and bright.
On the nose, primary aromas of cassis, cherries, and pomegranate seeds abound. Balsamic and floral notes (violet). With hints of black licorice, cocoa, and freshly cut coconut.
On the palate, its pleasant sweet flavor combined with ripe fruit stands out. Good structure, sweet and delicate but powerful tannins. Balsamic and forest red fruits appear. Long and persistent finish.
When Manuel Raventós acquired the barren lands of the Raimat estate in 1914, in a desert-like area of Lleida, almost bordering the Los Monegros desert, few believed he was in his right mind. Almost 90 years later, Raimat is a thriving estate with 2,100 hectares dedicated to vineyard cultivation, still in the hands of the Raventós family, owners of the Grupo Codorníu.
The first Raimat winery dates back to 1918 and was designed by the eminent modernist architect Rubió i Bellver. A subsequent expansion in 1988, carried out in line with the latest trends in ecological architecture and landscape integration, gave the winery its definitive appearance. Raimat was one of the first brands to cultivate foreign varieties almost unknown in Spain at the time and to adopt trellis training, leaving behind the classic and traditional bush vine.
