Located in Haro’s famous station district and a flagship of classical Rioja, Bodegas Bilbaínas (1901) is enjoying success with its new style that’s more up to date but without breaking with tradition. Viña Pomal is the winery’s most iconic label, a commercial brand that started out in 1904. The Viña Pomal wines are grown in vineyards belonging to a single estate: 120 hectares of vines on a plot located in Haro, which was planted in the early 1900s.
Viña Pomal Cuvée Especial Reserva 2021 (D.O.Ca. Rioja) is perfect with beef meatballs or entrecote au poivre.
CATA's notes
Cherry-red with ruby hues. Expressive and elegant nose with prominent aromas of red fruit together with spicy, toasty, floral and herby aromas; notes of fine woods. Excellent balance on the palate, flavoursome, full-bodied, with very good acidity that lends it freshness and length, pleasant to drink and highly aromatic on mid-palate, and a long, lingering finish.
