Viña Aljibes Rosado 2023 is one of the most interesting rosés made in this country with the French Syrah variety, the undisputed queen of the northern Rhône. It comes from the impressive estate that gives its name to the wine, located in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete), on moorland at an altitude of 1000 m. It stands out for its intense lactic aromas of strawberry, with memories of fresh grass. On the palate it has great strength, with good structure and length.

Los Aljibes is located in the centre of an impressive estate with 178 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of almost 1,000 m, in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete). This is an ambitious project led by the Lorenzo family, which specialises in growing foreign varieties, such as Syrah. This variety was used to make Viña Aljibes Rosado 2023. The grapes were harvested at their optimum ripeness, and fermented at a low temperature.
The Lorenzo family had a dream: to create their own winery. And they made it a reality after acquiring the Finca Los Aljibes in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete, in the 1990s), a location which is initially quite “Martian” looking in character, to host a project with these characteristics. On this moorland, at an altitude of 1000 m, the family was a pioneer in the cultivation of vineyards. Today it has 178 hectares of vineyards, with a wide range of national and international varieties.
Among the foreign varieties, there is Syrah, a long-term variety that benefits from the extreme climate of the area, its many hours of sunshine, and the high altitude, to achieve optimal ripening and produce high quality wines. The winery's modern facilities were built in 2003. And from them come very expressive wines that stand out for their excellent value for money.
Viña Aljibes rosado 2023 (V.T. Castilla) is a wine of the plains, ideal to accompany tuna tartare or beef carpaccio.
Raspberry pink colour with violet tones, very bright and clean. Nose of great intensity with marked aromas of strawberry, lactic memories with a citrus background with nuances of fresh grass.
On the palate it has great power, with a muscular body that gives it personality and length, accentuated by a pleasant acidity and slight bitterness that increases its elegance, leaving a distinguished aftertaste of strawberry caramel. Very balanced.
Bodegas Los Aljibes is an ambitious family project located in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Albacete), a place that, at first glance, seems quite unusual to host a company of this kind. The winery was built in 2003 in the center of a spectacular estate that spans 178 hectares of vineyard—along with almond and olive trees—at nearly 1,000 meters above sea level. The list of grape varieties cultivated by the Lorenzo family there is impressive and, to say the least, unique: tempranillo, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, garnacha tintorera, petit verdot, syrah, chardonnay, verdejo, and sauvignon blanc. The limestone soils, continental climate, and altitude are factors that promote low yields and optimal ripening, enhancing the quality of the wines.
The winery's exterior replicates a typical Manchegan construction, while its interior houses the most cutting-edge technology. Here, high-expression wines with an excellent quality-to-price ratio are crafted. The wines of Finca Los Aljibes bear the seal of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla. Manuel Lorenzo, the founder's son, is the current General Director. Finca Los Aljibes takes its name from two natural underground water cisterns used to irrigate the vineyard. Another unique feature of the property is its stud farm of Purebred Spanish Horses (in fact, wine tourists can tour the estate in a horse-drawn carriage).
