Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is a unique wine in Spain, an indulgence from the Mano a Mano winery produced with the Portuguese variety Touriga Nacional and the Spanish Tempranillo (TNT) that has for years surprised both enthusiasts and casual drinkers with its distinct character and extraordinary quality. Fresh, elegant and different, it leaves a long, very personal impression. Don’t miss it!

Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is a singular red that stems from the more restless side of Bodegas Mano a Mano. It is an exceptional wine with a clear experimental character, made from a coupage of Touriga Nacional and Tempranillo. After harvest selected in boxes and a second selection in the winery, it spends 12 months in French oak barrel.

It comes from the La Solana estate, at 700 metres altitude, on varied soils of calcareous sands, gravel, sandy-loam and clay soils, all resting on calcareous rock at varying depths. This mosaic of plots helps shape a wine with a lot of identity, aimed at those who enjoy proposals with soul and without constraints.

Bodegas Mano a Mano, founded in 2006, works with 330 hectares of own vineyard and a clear vocation to bring out the best from each plot. With a practical, very countryside philosophy, it combines experience, attention to detail and a desire to do things differently. Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is exactly that: an original, direct wine with a lot of character.

Making process

Winemaking

Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is produced from a second selection of the grapes, a key decision to keep only the best raw material before starting winemaking. From there, the process is guided with very precise control, in which temperature is crucial to preserve the intense and balsamic character that defines this red.

12 months in French oak barrels.

Vineyard

Description

On the La Solana experimental estate, the vines, with an average age of 20 years, sit at 700 metres above sea level on an interesting mix of calcareous sands with gravel, sandy-loam soils and clay soils, all resting on a bed of calcareous rock at varying depths, a setting that lends precision and character to this singular red. The continental and Mediterranean climate favours balanced ripening, while the careful harvest selection and ageing in French oak barrels further refine a blend of Touriga Nacional and Tempranillo that stands out for its fresh, balsamic and highly original personality.

Age

Made from vines with an average age of 20 years.

Climate

Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is produced in a vineyard with a continental and Mediterranean climate, at an altitude of 700 metres, a factor that helps to preserve freshness and balance. Moreover, the scarce rainfall, around 300 litres per square metre per year, favours slower and more concentrated ripening, ideal for a wine with such intensity and a balsamic character.

Viticulture

Venta La Ossa TNT 2021 is born from experimental and precise viticulture, designed to bring out the best of Touriga Nacional in La Solana. Bodegas Mano a Mano works this Portuguese variety on its experimental estate with a careful selection of the grapes from harvest, which is carried out in boxes, and with a second selection in the winery to fine-tune the raw material to the maximum. The vineyard sits at 700 metres above sea level, on varied soils of calcareous sands, rolled pebbles, sandy-loam and clayey, all over calcareous rock, in a continental and Mediterranean climate setting. The result is viticulture of traditional character in the countryside, but with a restless approach and a clear vocation for exploration, reinforced by the blending with Tempranillo.

Tasting notes

View

Attractive cherry red colour with a violet edge, clean and bright.

Nose

Shows a fresh, complex and elegant nose, where fruit blends with flowers against a backdrop of bay laurel and strongly pronounced balsamic notes, complemented by a subtle mineral nuance that reinforces its distinctive character. Its passage through a French oak barrel adds depth and rounds off an aromatic profile that is surprising, with a finish of great intensity and personality.

Mouth

On the palate it is round, savoury and long, with a balsamic and floral note that lingers on the finish. Its mouthfeel is notable for that balance which is so uncommon between freshness, complexity and elegance, with a mineral underpinning that reinforces its distinctive character. Moreover, this year it has gained power and length, leaving a final impression that is particularly pleasant and surprising.

The winery

Winery

Mano a Mano is a well-known winery with significant international projection, acting as the driving force behind the powerful Terra Selecta group. Mano a Mano is located in the heart of Castilla La Mancha, in Alhambra (Ciudad Real), where Terra Selecta identified an estate -Finca La Dehesa- with optimal characteristics for producing high-quality wines: very old dry-farmed bush vines planted on very poor soil. From there, they began vineyard work, focusing on exploring the potential of the tempranillo variety at different altitudes, soil types, and locations.

Currently, the winery has 300 hectares of vineyards on its Finca La Dehesa, vineyards over 50 years old cultivated on sandy soils with a bed of pebbles, iron, clay, and limestone, with very low yields not exceeding 2 kg per plant. Additionally, Bodegas Mano a Mano owns another vineyard in the Herencia area, Finca Sierra de La Solana, where they carry out experimental work with various varieties: syrah, cabernet sauvignon, graciano, touriga nacional…
